Week 4 (K-5)
This week focus on “Connecting” music with ELA. Click on “Favorite websites” on this page and find your grade level to enjoy a story relating to a musician/composers. What did you learn about the story?  What type of music was featured in your story?  Does the musician relate to you, if so, in what way?

Week 3- (K-5)
I hope you have been enjoying some of the lessons provided for you.  Week 1, you focused on "Responding" to music, week 2, you "Performed" and found out how music "Connected" to you.  Do you remember what our fourth Domain was in class.....anyone....."Create"!
This week you get to create!  Let me know what you have been snacking on or baking in the kitchen!  We are also going to “Connect” with math, by adding up our rhythms to equal 4 beats per measure.

K/1st- Create a 4 beat AB pattern in 4/4 time signature using ta's, tadi's, and rests.  Click on the Video link to your right for your guided lesson (K/1st Create with Food Videos 1-3).
2nd/3rd- Create a 4 beat ABA pattern in 4/4 time signature using eighth notes, quarter notes, and half notes. Click on the Video link to your right for your guided lesson (2nd/3rd Create with Food Videos 1-3).

Week 2- (K-5)
Hey RSE students!  I miss seeing and dancing with you!  The following resources are suggested, not required.  Two things to keep you busy this lesson are the following...
1.  "Perform" the steady beat on something to one of your favorite songs!  Get the whole family involved!
2.  Interview someone in your family about "who" or "what" is their favorite song or musician and why?  How does this song or musical artist "connect" to your daily life?
*****See the Videos link on the right to see what we have been working on.

Week 1- (K-5)
Hey RSE students!  The following resources are suggested, not required. Click on Classics for Kids link on the right, after you read through the directions below for your specific grade level.

The featured composer this month is Antonio Vivaldi and his famous composition "Spring" from his collection The Four Seasons.

K/1st-
We have explored his song "Winter" in the music classroom, where we walked through the snow and moved to the blizzard that was upon us.  We discussed tempo using our cats on the wall.  Listen to Vivaldi's song "Spring" and listen and "Respond" to his work.  What is the primary instrument you hear?  Did the instruments get louder and softer?  Get moving by standing tall when the music gets loud and squat down, when the music gets softer.  "Create" a picture of what you think the composer was writing about, when he titled it, "Spring".
2nd/3rd-
The featured composer this month is Antonio Vivaldi and his famous composition "Spring" from his collection The Four Seasons.  The following "Download this month's activity sheet" is this link https://www.classicsforkids.com/activitysheets/April2020.pdf  There short biography of the composer, listening map, four questions, and some word scrambles. "Connect" how his life relates/doesn't relate to your daily life?  Tell me something you learned about his song, "Spring"?  Did you remember those dynamics we talked about earlier in the year?  I'll give you a hint...Loud and soft sounds.  Do you remember the Italian words they mean?  "Respond" to the music.  What did you hear?
4th/5th-
The featured composer this month is Antonio Vivaldi and his famous composition "Spring" from his collection The Four Seasons.
Older students, you can take a look at the following 2nd/3rd grade lesson, but I like the podcast of the Antonio Vivaldi: Spring Music with the link below https://www.classicsforkids.com/shows/shows.php?id=1
When listening to this podcast, it gives you the opportunity to compare various Spring compositions with these popular composers.  Can you identify the different tempos?  The various moods of the compositions?  You can "Respond" to the music by listening and analyzing each short excerpt.  Which one is your favorite and why?
