Welcome to our Class!
I have a Masters degree in Education from MTSU. I began my teaching career in 1999. I spent a few years teaching middle school, before moving to the elementary. I LOVE teaching 3rd grade!
I am excited to meet you! We work hard and have a lot of fun in our class. I plan for your child to go home everyday with a brain full of new knowledge and an excitement to learn more. It is going to be a great year!
How to succeed in our class.
Please make sure you are connected with me on Dojo. I send classroom information and reminders over Dojo. I also share classroom pictures. Please make sure you are connected and your notifications are on. It is the easiest and fastest way for you to reach me and for me to reach you.
Please make sure your child has a quiet place at home to study and read every night. Your child will be reading and studying nightly. We will have a weekly Spelling and Vocabulary test. Your child should be able to write a 5 paragraph essay by Fall Break. They should know ALL of their multiplication facts by Christmas. They should know ALL of their division facts by Spring Break.
Please bring your supplies on our 2 hour day. It is important to get ALL of the required supplies exactly the way they are listed on the sheet. When I ask your child to put something in their red folder they need to have one. We organize our work by color and having the right colors avoids a lot of confusion. Please do not forget headphones. Every child needs their personal set of headphones for health reasons (lice). If your child would like to bring something extra, they are allowed to have a personal pencil sharpener. Please make sure this sharpener has a cover so it catches the pencil shavings.
We work extremely hard in this class. Please make sure you check your child's red take home folder nightly and go over anything they misunderstand. Third grade is part of the retention law. With your help and support they will be ready meet this challenge at the end of the school year.
